Got a breeding pair of african jewel cichlids, on their 3rd brood of young. Fry were about 3 days old, but disaster's struck - male's eaten them and taken a chunk out of the female's tail. Only other fish in the 75litre tank are a loach and bristle nose. Female's in a bad way, likely won't make it. Is this kind of aggression from the male normal? Would really appreciate some advice on this.

If you can isolate the male in a separate tank, that'd be great. Give the female a couple of weeks to recover. Unfortunately, this isn't uncommon - the male's already looking to breed again before the female's fully ready.
