Is my betta's side bulge a cause for concern

Hi, I've noticed a small bulge on my betta's side - it's affecting his scales slightly. It's tiny, making it tough to get clear photos. To be honest, it's been there for a few months but wasn't very noticeable until recently. Thankfully, he's still eating and swimming fine. Anyone have an idea what this might be?

I'd still love to see a picture if you can manage it, a photo might help narrow down possibilities.

Can you circle the area of concern on the pic so it's clearer what you're referring to?

Now that I've got a better look, I'd say it doesn't seem like a genetic issue to me. It's developed recently, after all. I'm curious, is there any sign of injury on the other side in the same area?

Yes, the profile picture does show a similar bump. I've only recently started to worry about it because the scales in that area aren't lying flat like they used to. The change in texture is what's concerning me, to be honest. He's still a relatively young fish, so I'm hoping it's just a normal part of his development, but I wanted to check with you all just in case.

I'm thinking it could be a tumor, possibly. @Deanasue, thoughts on this?

I'm hesitant to make an educated guess based on a picture alone. I've dealt with a similar issue on my own betta, in roughly the same area. Unfortunately, my betta's condition is deteriorating, which leads me to believe it's likely a tumor. I've tried administering antibiotics and antibacterial medication, but sadly, it hasn't provided any relief. At this point, I'm focusing on keeping him as comfortable as possible.
