Here's a video of my breeder male. I've found chewere to be well behaved mbuna. They're a great addition to any african tank.

He's a real beauty. The coloration on his tail is fantastic. I've heard that Metriaclima can be pretty feisty, but it sounds like you've got a more laid-back one on your hands.

I've had my fair share of Chewere over the years, never had any issues personally. They can get a bit testy with their own kind, but let's be honest, that's just cichlid behavior.

Yeah, pretty much. They can get feisty with their own kind but that's about it.

So I'd say they lean more towards con-specific aggression, similar to other Mbuna. You do get the occasional better-behaved individual, though. My experience with them has been pretty good when it comes to aggression. I've got another male Chewere that's wild-caught, and he's definitely more aggressive than this one – probably the most aggressive I've had of this species. I've found that wild-caught species tend to be more aggressive, likely due to having survived in the wild.

He's got that confident vibe going on, doesn't he, like he owns the place.

Yeah, he's quite the show-off, strutting his stuff like he owns the place, isn't he?
