How Do You Store Extra Plants?

I've got a bunch of extra Anubias and Java Fern from trimming my tank. What's the best way to store them without a tank? I don't want them to dry out or rot.

I usually toss mine in a bucket with some tank water and a cheap LED light. Keeps them alive for weeks, no fuss. Just make sure the water doesn't go stagnant, maybe toss in an airstone if you're feeling fancy.

For long-term storage, I'd recommend a shallow container with damp sphagnum moss. It maintains humidity and prevents rot. I've kept Cryptocoryne like this for months with minimal loss.

That works, but if you're tight on space, a ziplock bag with a bit of water and air works too. Just open it every few days to refresh the air.

Yo, I just chuck mine in a Tupperware with a lid. No water, just a damp paper towel. They're chill for a couple weeks, easy. Just don't forget about 'em, or they'll turn into mush.

I use a plastic bin with a lid, filled with tank water and a sponge filter. It's low-maintenance and keeps the plants healthy until I'm ready to use them again.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll try the bucket method first and see how it goes.

Ain't got no fancy setup, just a big ol' jar with some water and a lid. Works fine for my extra Hornwort. Just keep it outta direct sunlight, or you'll get algae city.

I store mine in a small tank with a heater and filter. It's overkill, but they stay healthy.

Hornwort's tough, but delicate plants like Bucephalandra need more care. A sealed container with high humidity is better for those.
