feeding Ricordea corals

My Ricordea corals aren't showing much polyp extension lately. I've been feeding them Reef Roids twice a week, but they don't seem to react. Tank's a 40-gallon with AI Prime lighting, 78°F, salinity at 1.025. Any tips on better food or frequency?

Ricordea can be picky eaters. I've had success with smaller particle foods like oyster eggs or even finely minced mysis. Try target feeding with a pipette, and make sure flow is low during feeding. How often are you doing water changes?

I swear by live baby brine shrimp for mine. They go nuts for it, and it's way more natural than powders. Also, check your phosphate levels. High phosphates can mess with their appetite.

Mine just chill and don't eat much either. I drop some amino acids in the water, and they seem happier. Not sure if it's the food or just vibes, though.

I've noticed mine respond better to liquid foods like Coral Frenzy. Maybe try switching it up and see if they perk up. Also, how old is your tank?

Thanks for the tips. I do weekly 10% changes, but I'll try the oyster eggs. Never thought about flow being an issue.

Weekly changes should be fine. Just make sure you're not overfeeding the tank overall. Excess nutrients can cause other issues. Let us know how the oyster eggs work out.

Amino acids can help, but I'd still push for live or frozen foods. Ricordea are lazy eaters, so you gotta make it easy for them.

My tank's about a year old, and the Ricordea took a few months to really settle in. Patience might be key here, but definitely experiment with different foods.
