I just got to the office tonight and noticed one of my elegance corals, which is a few months old, had this weird inflated short tentacle look going on. It's subsided a lot now and looks nearly normal. I'm wondering, do elegance corals do this naturally when the lights dim at night, or is this the start of a bacterial infection? I'm not usually here when the lights switch to blue, but this is the first time I've seen it inflate like that. Occasionally, when I put my hands in the water, they'll partially inflate - I guess they sense my hands. It's a 16-gallon Nuvo, and my other elegance coral, just 2 inches away, looks perfectly fine. I'm just curious if other elegance owners have seen this happen from time to time.

Don't stress, I've seen this before. My elegance coral tends to do that when there's a sudden change, like with the lighting or water flow. It usually settles down soon after, looking perfectly fine again.

They do go through cycles of inflation and deflation, I think it's just part of their natural process of expelling waste.
