Frogspawn coral base rot issue

I'm having some issues with my frogspawn and I was hoping someone could offer some insight. The base of it seems to be deteriorating, and that light brown spot has grown significantly over the past few days, roughly doubling in size.

I'm not convinced that brown spot is a natural part of the polyp, it appears to be something else.

Here's a clearer picture, hopefully that helps.

Honestly, I think that brown spot might be the frag site. How long have you had that coral, anyway? The pics you posted look alright to me, though.

I've had it for a few weeks now. The brown spot was much smaller when I got it, roughly a quarter of the size it is now. I'll just keep an eye on it and see how it develops. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

Looks like new growth to me, seems pretty healthy. Kudos to you for staying vigilant, always on top of things, that's awesome.

I've seen this before with branching Euphyllia - the flesh around the stalk tends to move upwards with the polyp, exposing the skeleton. Typically, an inch or so of flesh remains on the stalk below the polyp. If that all disappears, then you've got an issue.
