I'm setting up a low flow tank and need plant recommendations. The filter is a sponge type, so flow is minimal. What plants thrive in these conditions? Tank is 20 gallons, substrate is sand, and lighting is moderate.

Anubias and Java Fern are solid choices for low flow. They don't need much water movement and attach well to driftwood or rocks. My 15-gallon has both, and they're doing great with similar conditions.

Cryptocorynes are another good option. They're hardy and don't mind low flow. Just make sure your lighting isn't too intense, or you might get algae. I've had success with Crypt Wendtii in my 30-gallon.

If you want something with a bit more color, try Bucephalandra. It's like Anubias but with more variety in leaf shape and color. Just don't bury the rhizome, or it'll rot. My low-flow tank has three types, all thriving.

Low flow tanks are perfect for floating plants like Frogbit or Salvinia. They don't care about water movement and help shade the tank. Just be ready to trim them often, they grow like crazy.

I've had luck with Amazon Swords in my low flow setup. They're big, so they need space, but they're chill with the flow. Just gotta feed 'em root tabs now and then.

Yep, second this. Anubias is bulletproof. I've got some in a tank with barely any flow, and it's still kicking after a year.

Mosses like Java Moss or Christmas Moss work well too. They don't need much flow and can be tied to decor. Just keep an eye on debris buildup, it can mess with their growth.

Don't forget about Marimo balls. They're basically zero-maintenance and love low flow. Just roll 'em around during water changes to keep their shape. My betta tank has two, and they're doing great.

I'd avoid stem plants like Hornwort in low flow. They tend to shed a lot and can clog up the tank. Stick to the slower growers like everyone's suggesting.
