kribensis pair setup advice

Hi everyone,

I'm sure some of you remember my previous thread in the "fish emergencies" section about my male Krib bullying my smaller female Krib. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse this morning when I found her deceased. I'm still trying to process what happened, but I'm already thinking about my next move. I'm considering getting another female Kribensis, but this time I want to make sure she's significantly larger. Has anyone else dealt with a similar situation? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nathan.

I'd recommend isolating the male Krib in a separate tank first. Then, introduce the new female to the main tank, letting her establish her territory. Once she's settled, you can reintroduce the male, making it seem like he's entering her space. Adding a few danios or other peaceful schooling fish can also help distract the male and create a sense of unity among the fish.

I have 11 neon tetra in the tank with him, so I'm thinking the common enemy aspect is somewhat covered. As for the male's isolation period, I'd say at least a week to ten days should do it. This will give the new female a chance to establish herself and claim the territory.

Rearranging the decor might also be beneficial in helping the new female Krib feel more secure and less stressed when introduced to the tank.
