What's the best way to keep Cherry Shrimp happy in a 10 gallon tank? I've got a sponge filter, some Java Moss, and driftwood, but they seem a bit shy. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate.

Cherry Shrimp thrive in stable conditions. Make sure your pH is between 6.5 and 7.5, and temp around 72–78°F. They love hiding spots, so add more plants like Anubias or Subwassertang. Also, feed them blanched veggies like zucchini or spinach twice a week.

Dude, just throw in some cholla wood. They'll cling to it like it's a shrimp party. Mine go nuts for it. Also, keep the light low, they're not into bright vibes.

I've had success with a mix of Bacter AE and Hikari Shrimp Food. It's important to not overfeed, though. Leftover food can mess with your water quality. Stick to small portions and remove uneaten food after a couple hours.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'll try adding more plants and some cholla wood. Any tips on water changes? How often should I do them?

For a 10 gallon, 10–15% weekly changes are ideal. Use a drip method to avoid shocking them with sudden parameter shifts.

Yeah, and don't go crazy with the water changes. Shrimp are chill but they hate sudden changes. I do mine every two weeks and they're fine. Just keep an eye on the TDS if you're using tap water.

I'd also recommend remineralizing your water if you're using RO. Shrimp need calcium for their shells. I use Salty Shrimp GH/KH+ and it's worked great. Test your GH and KH regularly to keep things stable.

Agreed. Consistency is key. I've found that shrimp do better with smaller, more frequent changes rather than large, infrequent ones.

Also, if you're gonna add new shrimp, drip acclimate them for like 2 hours. They're super sensitive to new water. I learned that the hard way when I lost a batch to shock.
