Who Gives A Fish Forums

hey, so my friend just told me about this crazy fish she saw, and I'm totally stumped. she described it like this:

< saltwater
< blocky, like a square brick
> it was this weird mix of purple, brown, and white
> tiny little fins in the front
> stripes all over
> and no spikes, so it's not a puffer

I'm a total newbie when it comes to saltwater fish, so I could really use some help figuring out what this thing might be.

Could be a boxfish.

Those little boxfish are adorable.

Kind of blocky, I guess.

Those round little babies are a sight to see. Chasing or observing them in the wild can be quite entertaining, but personally, I wouldn't keep them in my tanks.

What's the reason behind that?

boxfish can be tank nukers, releasing toxins.

those mini ones are pretty cool though - like the size of a coin, but boxy and weird swimmers.
