I just got a new RO unit and it came with a TDS meter, now I'm wondering what's a good TDS reading for RO water?

A good rule of thumb is to expect your RO water's TDS reading to be around 1/50th of the tap water's reading. For example, if your tap water has a TDS of 100ppm, you'd want your RO water to be around 2ppm. If your tap water's a bit dirtier, say 400ppm, your RO water should be in the range of 8-10ppm.

Generally, if the TDS reading is under 10ppm, you can be confident your RO unit is functioning as it should.

I'm completely lost in all the technical jargon. It sounds like a foreign language to me.

I'm still lost in the abbreviations, I'm not trying to be dense but TDS, ppm, RO - can someone just explain it in plain English for me?

I'm still waiting for your actual response, instead of just posting a bunch of abbreviated nonsense that nobody can understand.

I just paraphrased fleeton's post, basically word for word, without the abbreviations. That's what the quote is.

No need for apologies, rusticore - you did indeed rephrase fleeton's post. Appreciate the effort, thanks.

Ugh, all these abbreviations are killing me. I'm totally lost, it's like you're speaking a different language or something. Sorry about that, I guess I'm a little out of my depth here. Thanks for the translation, by the way.
