I just got a new RO unit and it came with a TDS meter, now I'm wondering what's a good TDS reading for RO water?

A good rule of thumb is to expect your RO water's TDS reading to be around 1/50th of the tap water's reading. For example, if your tap water has a TDS of 100ppm, you'd want your RO water to be around 2ppm. If your tap water's a bit dirtier, say 400ppm, your RO water should be in the range of 8-10ppm.
Generally, if the TDS reading is under 10ppm, you can be confident your RO unit is functioning as it should.

I'm still lost in the abbreviations, I'm not trying to be dense but TDS, ppm, RO - can someone just explain it in plain English for me?

Ugh, all these abbreviations are killing me. I'm totally lost, it's like you're speaking a different language or something. Sorry about that, I guess I'm a little out of my depth here. Thanks for the translation, by the way.
