I snapped a great pic of this little beauty. She's an absolute stunner and a blast to watch zip around my 10g nano-reef. I know damsels have a bad rep - I've even had people dump them at the LFS because they're a handful.

This one caught my eye at work today, though. She was tearing around our damsel-only tank, super active and crazy colorful.

I was wondering, I've got a 10g tank at home with a bunch of damsels already - 2 blue/green chromis, a striped one, a domino, etc. They all seem to get along. Could I add another damsel to the mix, or is that a bad idea? If not, what else could I introduce to the tank?

I'm also thinking of adding a coflake banded shrimp to cap off the tank. I've already got a peppermint shrimp, some crabs, snails, and the like.

You're saying your tank has three fish, or the LFS display tank has three, right?

From what I gather, you've got just one damsel in your 10-gallon tank and you're wondering if you can add another one, right? And you mentioned working at Petco, where they've got a tank with a couple of blue/green chromis and a domino damsel, correct?

If that's the case, and you only have one damsel in your tank, I'd say go for it. I wouldn't recommend more than two damsels in a 10-gallon tank, though.

As for Petco, I wouldn't take their tank setups as a reliable source of information on compatible fish. I've had my issues with them, to be honest. I've been boycotting them for four years now. The way they set up their tanks is just terrible, and it's heartbreaking to see the fish suffer. I recall seeing a royal gramma in a 10-gallon tank with 20 yellow-tailed damsels - it was just sad.
