dealing with frustration

I've got a few cichlids - 2 fire mouths, 2 pikes, 2 jewels, and 2 that I'm pretty sure are zebras. Watched some YouTube vids of people's cichlids going crazy for food, but mine just hide and barely touch theirs. Any ideas what's going on?

How long have you had your cichlids, angleric? If it's been a relatively short time, they might just be adjusting to their surroundings and still figuring out the feeding routine.
If you've had them for a while now and they're still not eating like you expect, I'd suggest trying to get their attention with food. One thing you could do is use a turkey baster to suck up some food and then release it near them. This way, the food is right in front of them and they might be more likely to come out and eat.
I also thought of the possibility that they might be sick, but with so many fish in the tank, it's unlikely that they're all sick at the same time.
