Hey guys,
I'm about to kick off my cycle in my 55-gallon tank (39.5 inches long, 19.5 inches wide, 16.5 inches high) with a 20-gallon sump and an octopus skimmer. I've got 20 kg of live rock on the way and I'm planning to create an aquascape with loads of swimming space. Now I'm looking for some help with my stock list. I want a show-stopping centerpiece fish, but I'm not sure which ones would thrive in my tank.

I've got a few favorite centerpiece fish in mind: one spot foxface, kole tang, yellow tang, or a flame/coflake beauty angel.

As for other fish I like, I'm considering:
- Flasher wrasses
- Fairy wrasses
- Anthias (I know they're a bit tricky)
- Mandarin dragonet (another challenging one)
- An ocellaris clown pair (these are a must-have for me)
- A watchman goby/pistol shrimp pair
- A blackcap basslet
- A jawfish
- A starry blenny or another type of blenny (another must-have)

I know I won't be able to keep all of these, so please don't roast me if I've made some questionable choices. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Tangs are out of the question for your tank, they need a lot more space, I'm talking at least 75 gallons. I'd go with one of the angels, personally I think the flame is a better choice than the coflake, but either one has a 50/50 chance of nipping at your corals. I'd avoid the mandarin, they require a really mature tank, we're talking 6 months to a year minimum. As for the rest of your list, I'm not knowledgeable enough to give you a solid answer, but I'd be happy to help you brainstorm.

I'm aware of the fluxeonet's requirements, specifically the need for fluffnut and I would only consider adding it later on, provided I have a visible and stable population of copepods and amphipods in place.

I'm also considering adding one to my setup, just not anytime soon. As long as you've done your homework and are confident your tank is ready, I think you'll be fine.
