I'm looking to create some driftwood and I've come across info that neem and a few other types of wood aren't suitable. Can anyone tell me which tree types are okay to use for driftwood?

When selecting trees for driftwood, steer clear of any with white sap or those known to be poisonous. Deciduous trees, which shed their leaves in autumn, are generally suitable, as are Eucalyptus varieties.

The key to using most trees is to allow the wood to dry for several months before submerging it in water. Once the wood becomes waterlogged and sinks, you can test its safety by adding a couple of shrimp or inexpensive fish. If they survive, the wood is likely fine; however, if they perish, it's best to avoid using that particular type of wood.
