I've got a 125g saltwater reef tank with a large yellow tang, a medium clown fish, a lawnmower blenny, crabs, snails, and shrimp. My local store has California stingrays and a black and orange batfish, and I've been eyeing them for a while now. I recently lost most of my fish to a disease, but my tank's healthy again and my clown fish is doing great.

I'm wondering if the stingray and batfish would work in my tank, and if not, what I need to do to make it suitable for them. I do weekly water changes, so my tank's clean. Also, I just added a new blenny and I think it got sucked into my sump - any ideas on how to find it? It's been missing for 3 hours.

I'm also getting more tangs and some gobies, so I'd love to know if they're compatible with the stingray and batfish. These two fish would be awesome additions to my tank.

Honestly, I'm not sure about the stingray, it's probably gonna outgrow your tank pretty fast. The batfish might work, I mean, I'm no expert or anything, but it's worth looking into their requirements, I guess.

Batfish, specifically ones like the Dusky Batfish, have a really tough time making it in tanks and the ones with that gorgeous orange stripe, like the Dusky Batfish, end up losing that color as adults and turn into these big, gray fish. If you're dead set on having a batfish, I'd say look into P. tiera or P. orbicularis, they seem to do okay.

I've gotta agree with the others, the stingray's a no-go, it'll outgrow your tank in no time. The batfish isn't a good idea either, they get huge, like over 2 feet tall, and their survival rate's really low. I mean, it's like FableRex said, they're a tough sell.

So, what kind of tangs are you planning on getting? I'm a bit concerned, to be honest, 'cause your tank's already pretty small, and some tangs can get pretty big.
