Can i add a 5 1/2 week old cory to a community tank?

I've got a cory that's about 5 1/2 weeks old now, and he's really taking off. I'm thinking it might be time to let him out of the breeder box and into the main tank. He's definitely big enough that I don't have to worry about him getting eaten. The thing is, this is my first time successfully hatching cory fry, so I'm not really sure what to expect or when the best time to release them is.

It really depends on the tank's community. If you've got peaceful, small fish that won't harass the little guy, now might be a good time to let him out and explore. But, if you've got fin-nippers or territorial fish, it's probably best to keep him safe in the breeder box for a bit longer.

I'm still a bit hesitant though. My main concern is the stress it might cause him. I've got a few neon tetras, a dwarf gourami, and some harlequin rasboras in the community tank. I've also got a few snails. Would it be better to wait a bit longer or is it fine to release him now?

I've got a pretty peaceful community in my tank - just guppies, a bristlenose pleco, an otto catfish, and some other corys.

Considering the mix you've got in the tank, I think it'd be better for the young Cory to be in there than stuck in the breeder box.

No need to worry about the current tank inhabitants, I think it's time to let the little guy join the community. Being in the open tank will likely boost his growth rate even more.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I was thinking of releasing him soon anyway, just wanted to make sure I wasn't making a mistake.

The little guy's doing great in the big tank. It's awesome to see him swimming around with the adults already. Congrats to me, I guess - I'm still on a high from raising my first cory baby, it's such an exciting feeling when it finally works out.

He's thriving in the big tank. I'm thrilled to see him swimming alongside the adults. His growth over the last few days is incredible - he's noticeably bigger already. It's an absolute delight to watch him settle in so seamlessly.
