I've been keeping an eye on my Brain coral and I just noticed some bright pink spots along one of the edges. I'm also curious about the ID, I got it as a moon coral frag for $20 but Live Aquaria lists it as a war coral - not a huge deal, but I'd love to know for sure. Mainly, I want to make sure it's healthy and I don't need to move it before I put the rock back over the apoxy plug.

I'm thinking the skeleton might've been exposed at some point, and coralline algae just took over. You tried brushing it off or anything?

I think Stormy's theory that the coral was recently fragged and the Coralline algae is just starting to grow makes sense, especially since it's been about a month since they got it. If that's the case, the exposed skeleton would be a pretty good explanation for the pink spots. I still think it's worth trying to gently remove the algae with a brush, but I can understand why Stormy's been hesitant to touch it so far.

I'm not too worried about it, looks healthy enough to me at this point.
