dark spots on a clown

i've got a clown with loads of black marks on its body, but it's healthy, swimming around and eating fine, no signs of stress. I read that this can happen if they're hosting in zoas, has anyone else come across this? any advice would be great, thanks.
Many Thanks

What's the clown species, mate?

I'm running a Coflake Sea Perc, no issues with black marks though my fish is thriving, eating well and no signs of stress.

Many percs can develop excess black on their coloration, it's quite common. Have these black marks on your coflake sea perc always been there or are they a new development and spreading? For instance, my female perc has extra black patches around the base of her pectoflake fins.

They've appeared recently, mainly on the lower body and fins, not sure if it's related to the zoas hosting thing I mentioned earlier.

If they're hosting, it's possible those black marks are sting scars. The slime layer should build up an immunity eventually, and they usually fade away.
