Celebrating the new year with my aquatic friends

I'm looking forward to unwinding with my tetras tomorrow, and I might need to do a partial water change since it's been three weeks since the last one. The fish are doing alright. I'm currently calculating the total cost of my upcoming Orinoco project. I've still got some essential items to add to the list, like a filter, heater, and dimmable lights for the Aqua One Horizon 130 litre tank starter kit – I haven't bought it yet. If I do get the kit, I'll be making some changes, keeping only the stand and tank. The filter and heater that come with the Aqua One Horizon aquarium aren't great – the filter can fail within a day to a month, and the heater doesn't go above 20 degrees C, according to reviews. The lights aren't dimmable either. I'll replace them with a better filter, dimmable lights, and a working heater that can go above 20 degrees C. It's going to be a pricey project, which is why I'm using all my birthday, work, and Christmas money for it.
2024 is going to be a new year for me and my family. I just hope I get that Aqua One Horizon 130 litre tank. I've done my research on the plants and fish that live in the Orinoco, and I plan to move my existing cardinal tetras from the 10 gallon to the 35 gallon tank once it's cycled and completed. I hope I can get the larger tank before my cardinal tetras pass away. I'm also trying to relearn how to gravel-vac.
If my finished tank isn't ready for TOTM in February, I'll enter it in May instead. Happy new year!
