Just got my new RW-8's and I'm loving the improved flow in my tank. My torch coral's really thriving now - the tentacles are extending about 30% longer, which is awesome. However, it's coming at a cost - the poor red monti is getting stung pretty badly. I've only recently had success with SPS since I upgraded my lights back in November.
What would you guys do in this situation?
1. Move the torch out of the way.
2. Relocate the monti to a safer spot.
3. Trim the monti back to give it some space.
4. Let the monti figure out how far it needs to recede on its own.

Move the torch, it's just going to end up killing the monti if you leave it as is.

Don't move the torch if it's doing well in that spot. Trim back the monti, it's not worth risking the health of your torch. Move the monti to a safer location, it'll give it a chance to recover.

Looks like we've got a stalemate, who's gonna break the tie?

I'd let them duke it out, see what happens.

I think the monti'll do its own thing. Leave it be, see how it goes.

I'd probably trim the monti, see how it goes, and move it if needed. I've got a soft spot for my euphyllia, so even though they can be a bit aggressive, they get priority when it comes to placement.

"Trim or break off the piece of the monti that's directly in the torch's firing line, that way you avoid sudden tissue death or whatever you call it when SPS start bleaching out. No need for a sudden shock to the system. And yeah, looks like we've got a tie-breaker on our hands."

I decided to trim the monti to avoid any tissue damage and also gave the torch a bit more space.
Everything's looking good so far.
