Got two tanks with similar fish - Corydoras bronze, and Blue velvet shrimp in one, and the other's got similar fish plus guppys and white clouded minnows. Should I trim it back, it's getting pretty thick - about 50-75% now.

I had a similar issue, got a bit too enthusiastic with the trimming and now I'm left with a tiny bit of it trying to regrow. Be cautious, trim what's necessary but don't overdo it, you don't want to end up like me, trying to revive a small strand.
