Considering a return to the hobby

hey everyone, i'm not sure if TFF recalls me, but i was super active here back in the day - life just got in the way and i ended up selling off my tanks and most of my gear, but lately i've been feeling this huge void and i'm thinking of getting back into the hobby, maybe with a smaller, more manageable tank. i know i got caught up with work, basketball, and just the usual stuff, but i've been realizing how much i miss the therapeutic aspect of it all and how much joy it brought me.

i'm seriously considering starting fresh and seeing where it takes me this time around.

P.S. also, i've got a girlfriend now - we've been together for about 6 months and things are getting pretty serious, we're even talking about tying the knot towards the end of next year, and we've had some pretty in-depth conversations with our parents about it all, it's a mix of excitement and nerves, but i know she's the one. just thought i'd fill y'all in

We've missed you around here. Great to see you're thinking of getting back into the hobby - it's awesome how it can help clear your mind. I'm rooting for you to make a comeback.

It'd be fantastic if your girlfriend could get into it with you too - that way you both can share the experience.

It's awesome that you realized how therapeutic it can be - I can totally relate. It's been my go-to way to unwind, but lately, it's been a bit of a mixed bag for me.

What's your current job like? Are you planning on starting with fresh or saltwater this time around?

Huge congratulations on the engagement news, man - that's amazing. I'm really happy for you both, and I hope everything works out as planned.

You've got a big year ahead of you, but I'm sure you'll make it through. By the way, how's your girlfriend handling the idea of you getting back into aquariums?

Kingrise, don't let basketball get in the way this time, just build those racks tall and you'll be having a blast. It's great to see you rising from the ashes like a phoenix, shaking off that temporary burnout from the aquarium world.

Hey y'all, it's been a while, and I'm not sure if anyone remembers me, but I used to be super active on here. Life got crazy, and I had to get rid of all my tanks and equipment, but I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and I really miss it. I'm considering getting back into it, maybe with just one tank that's easier to manage. I've been working full time and playing basketball, and life just got in the way, but I realized how much I loved it and how therapeutic it was.

I've been thinking about it a lot, and I'm really considering starting up again. I'm not sure what kind of tank I'll get yet, but I'm thinking something small and low maintenance.

P.S. I also wanted to share some personal news - I've been dating my girlfriend for about six months now, and things are getting serious. We're talking about getting married next year, and we've been discussing it with our parents. It's all a bit overwhelming, but I know she's the one for me.

Thanks for the warm welcome back, everyone. I've been thinking about getting back into aquariums, and I'm leaning towards the Fluval Flex 15g. I like its sleek design and the built-in filter, which would make things easier for me.

I'm considering a betta tank with some cool shrimp and lots of live plants. I think it'd be a great way to get back into the hobby without too much hassle. Plus, it'll be nice to have something beautiful to look at again.

As for work, I'm currently a grill cook at McDonald's. It keeps me busy, but I enjoy it.

Thanks for the congratulations on my relationship, too. Yeah, I just turned 18 in June, so it's all still pretty new and exciting.

I appreciate the advice on building tall racks, but I think I'll just stick with one tank for now. I do plan on making a comeback, though, and I'm looking forward to sharing my progress with you all.

Thanks again for the welcome back, everyone. It's great to be back in the community.

I'm thinking of setting up my tank with a dark substrate, some hard decor like dragon rock and dark driftwood, and lots of live plants. I want taller plants in the back to create some depth, and maybe some carpeting plants in the front for the shrimp to hang out in.

I'll definitely make a build journal if I end up getting the tank, and I'll be sure to update it frequently so you guys can follow along.

For stock, I'm thinking either a koi plakat betta or a gold half moon - I love the way they look. And for shrimp, I'm definitely going to get some blue velvet shrimp, and maybe some crystal red ones too.
