dealing with krib aggression

evening all.
just wanted to share a bit of a situation with my kribs. recently lost my male, was really sudden, one day he was off colour, next he was gone. waited a week then popped to my lfs to pick out a new male. they had this one in an adoption tank out back, poor bloke needed a new home, so i was happy to give him a chance.
problem is, my female who's always been really docile has turned into a bit of a nightmare. male's barely getting a chance to leave the top of the tank without her going at him. i know not all pairings work out, but i'm worried she's gonna batter him if she gets the chance. he's bigger than her, so fingers crossed he'll find his feet eventually.
in the meantime, is there anything i can do to calm things down in the tank? thinking maybe food, temp, or decor changes? any suggestions welcome. thanks.
