Who Gives A Fish Forums

I'm looking for some input on my stocking list for my 55 gallon reef tank:

1 Scott's Fairy Wrasse
2 Ocellaris Clownfish
3 Blue/Green Chromis
1 Bicolor Pseudochromis
2 Gobies - any suggestions on types would be great
1 Firtideflow

That's my current fish list, but I'm still deciding on inverts and corals - probably a mix of LPS, SPS, and Zoos.
Do you think I've got enough fish, or is there room for a few more?

If you're gonna have SPS, I'd get rid of the Bicolor Pseudochromis, they can sometimes nip at corals.

I'm aware of the risks with Coflake Beauties, but I'm willing to take the gamble. If things don't work out, I'll just return the fish.

I went through the same thing with a flame angel when I first started, it was a nightmare. Took me three days to catch the thing, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

What I'm thinking is, I need a showstopper for the tank. Something that'll be the centerpiece, but still reef-safe. Any ideas on that?

Ski might be inclined towards a wrasse, but I'd recommend a jawfish. Keep in mind, though, that you'd need a deeper sand bed in a specific area of your tank for it to thrive.

That being said, a wrasse would likely make a more striking centerpiece.

I've come across some interesting information about chromis - it seems that many people who keep them often end up with just one. Apparently, it can take up to a year, but eventually, one tends to outcompete the others.

I'm thinking of adding another type of Fairy Wrasse from the LFS, does anyone know if the Cirrhilabrus Fairy Wrasse would work well in my tank? I've also been reading that Chromis are schooling fish, but I've heard they can turn on each other - would I really end up with just one in the long run?

Chromis can be pretty aggressive, especially when you've only got a few of them. That aggression's gonna build up, and eventually, they'll start turning on each other.

I just found out that the Wrasse I saw was a Scott's Fairy Wrasse, which is actually on my list already. That's really odd, I was under the impression that Chromis were schooling fish, my LFS told me that too. I'm starting to wonder if it's better to see how the three chromis interact with each other or just get some different damsel species to avoid any potential issues. I'm kind of drawn to the three-lined damsel, what do you guys think?

Also, I'd love to get some suggestions on the gobies, I'm still open to ideas on that front.

I've seen chromis get along just fine, but also instances where they didn't. From my experience, it's a gamble to keep a group of them.
