Just confirming, my guests are still having a blast after the shrimp feast. Got a few tiny cleaners on the scene, think they're scuds, right? Want to make sure I'm on the right track with my research. Thanks x

Unfortunately, the picture isn't very clear - all I can make out are some blurry white blobs. I'd recommend looking up some images of scuds to see if they match what you've got. Since scuds have a pretty distinctive appearance, comparing them to some pictures should give you a good idea. They're certainly interesting little creatures. I've been meaning to find some more myself.

By the way, I have a bit of a connection to Peterborough - I spent some time there when I was younger. It's a lovely city, and the cathedral is definitely one of the most beautiful I've seen.

Thanks for trying to help with the pic, I did try to delete it when I saw how bad it was, would be great if an admin could sort it out for me. As for Peterborough, I'm afraid it's not the same place you left behind, it's all about the flats and sadly, a lot of homeless people in the town centre now.

I think I can help you identify those little critters. If you search for "gammarus" online, you'll mostly find pictures of scuds - they're pretty distinctive. I've got a couple of photos, one of my scuds and another of some seed shrimp, which might help. I also took a short video of the seed shrimp to show their movement, but I'll probably need to upload it to YouTube and share the link here, as I'm not sure how to post videos directly on this forum. As for the copepods, I'm still figuring out how to capture a good photo to share, but if you look up videos of copepods in aquariums, you'll get an idea of their swimming action - that might be what you're dealing with.

@BadgersSong, I recall a live foods place that had worm cultures and supposedly kept scuds in stock regularly. They're actually available on Amazon too, if you're willing to part with some of that moderator cash.

I'd love to see a clearer picture of what you're dealing with - could you possibly take a few more photos so we can get a better idea of what it might be?

I took a video, but it wouldn't upload, so I added some photos instead. The picture turned out blurry and rubbish, and to be honest, I was right there taking it, but still couldn't make out what it was. I'll try again soon and add some new ones, x.

Still a bit blurry, sorry. My phone camera's not great underwater. Will try again in the morning if these aren't clear enough x

Still can't make much out from the latest pic, think we need to wait for some clearer shots.

Still not sure if it's clear enough. My phone's not great with underwater pics.
