I've been experimenting with a few different types of floaters lately, and I've been eyeing Frog Bit - I've never tried it before, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect. If I were to mix it with something like Red Root Floaters in the same tank, I'm curious to know if it would cause any issues. Currently, I've just been sticking to one type of floater per tank, but I'm open to trying something new.

I've had experience mixing different types of floaters in the past. Typically, one variety ends up dominating the tank, while the others gradually decline. I've observed a similar pattern with my rooted plants - initially, I introduce multiple varieties, but over time, some thrive while others struggle to survive.

My experience with duckweed and Salvinia was similar, the duckweed just took over and eventually choked out the Salvinia.

It's a battle royale in my paludarium, with Salvinia currently reigning supreme, but duckweed's putting up quite the fight. Pistia, on the other hand, seems to be going solo, and as a result, it's consistently coming up short.

I've had experience with mixing Red Root Floaters and Lettuce. To prevent overcrowding, I made sure to thin them out. If I hadn't, I think the Lettuce would've outcompeted the Red Root, possibly suffocating it.

It's a turf war at the surface, but beneath the waves, the established crew holds court. I'm left wondering what role chemical warfare plays in this aquatic struggle for power, and how much of it comes down to a battle of attrition, with each side trying to starve the other out. My fish may be peaceful cohabitants, but when it comes to the floating plants, it's every man for himself – they'll cut each other down to size without hesitation.
