Choosing the best plants for small aquariums

Hi,
I'm planning to get a small to medium-sized aquarium, probably around 10-12 gallons and likely freshwater.
I'll probably have small fish like bettas or gouramis, or maybe just red cherry shrimp and triops.
I'm not a fan of plastic decorations, I'm going for a more natural look.
Looking for plant suggestions that won't grow too fast or take up too much space - foreground, midground, background, all types.
I like the idea of Cryptocorynes, Java Moss, and Pygmy Chain Sword.
Any other plant ideas or suggestions would be great, thanks.

I'd also recommend considering Anubias and Bucephalandra for a nano tank - they're slow growers and pretty low maintenance, although they can be a bit pricey. I'm a fan of Banana Plants and Java Moss for shrimp setups too.

You could consider Anubias, Java Fern, or Java Moss, they're all pretty versatile. Moss balls work well too, or if you want something a bit different, Anacharis is an option.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm aiming for a more natural, earthy vibe with lots of greenery - think along the lines of a lush, overgrown environment.

Try Salvinia, it's a floating plant that can add a nice touch to your 'green' setup.

I've discovered some great options for a natural, green look in my tank - Anubias, moss balls, and Java Fern are all contenders. But if I'm being honest, the plants that have really stood out to me for my bettas and cherry shrimp are Anacharis, Java Moss, and Salvinia. Both my bettas and shrimp seem to love Anacharis, and the shrimp are always resting on the Java Moss. I've also noticed they like to hang out near the Salvinia.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I'm really drawn to plants that fit well in smaller spaces, and I've had good luck with crypt wendtii and dwarf sag. Christmas moss is another favorite of mine - it adds a nice texture to the tank.
