Hi everyone,

I'm excited to be joining the community after lurking for so long. I've got a trio of tanks at home, two tropical and one cold water.

One of my tropical setups is semi-planted, with a mix of live and silk plants that seem to be keeping my Betta happy. However, I've recently noticed one of my plants is deteriorating - it's only affecting one leaf so far, but I'm concerned. I've attached a picture for you to take a look.

The tank in question is a 26-gallon setup, about a month old, with a heater maintaining a steady temperature, a filter, and LED lighting. The inhabitants include my Betta, three neon rainbow dwarfs, two glass catfish, and three peppered corydoras. I haven't seen any of the fish trying to eat the plant.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on what might be causing this and how I can address the issue. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

How long has that disintegrating plant been in your tank, and have you noticed any changes in the tank's conditions since you added it?

About 8 days now, I picked it up from my LFS, it was the healthiest one they had. I'm pretty sure it's an anubias, came pre-rooted to a coconut husk hide which my Corys just love.

It's possible the plant is just going through a transition. Anubias are often cultivated out of water, so when they're submerged, the existing leaves can deteriorate and eventually get replaced by new growth.

Hi, just a thought - are you adding any fertilizers to the tank?

I hadn't planned on dosing ferts, since I assumed the fish waste would provide enough nutrients.

I'd say ferts are pretty necessary, even with fish in the tank. The nutrients from your fish can only go so far, and ferts just help make sure your plants are getting everything they need to grow.
