I stopped by Petco today and saw they're now carrying the new glo-betta, it was lime green in color, I'm pretty sure more colors will be available soon.

That's sad to hear they're already pushing out glo-betta. Honestly, I'm not a fan of glo fish, just not my thing.

Those glo-betta are a shame. Betta fish are stunning just the way they are, no need for genetic modification.

Every pet store I've been to already has them in stock. To be honest, I think the males look a bit unnatural, but I have to admit, a group of females could be really interesting - I'm actually considering setting one up.

I think they all resemble the undead, to be honest. The health issues and moflake controversy surrounding GloFish are one thing, but for me, the main issue is that they just don't have the same aesthetic appeal as regular bettas.

I'd consider getting them if they came with a guarantee of no health issues, a 'Glo fish with no health problems' would be a game changer for me

I'm looking to get a Betta, just not one of the glo-betta. I think their natural colors are nice enough without modification. I'm also worried about the health issues that come with these modified fish.

The weirdly shaped fish like those balloon mollies, they're basically genetic mutations. Normal fish are bred and produce heaps of young. In the wild, the deformed ones would normally get eaten because they can't swim as well or their color makes them more visible. What happens is, instead of culling these fish when they're first noticed, breeders keep the deformed young and grow them up. Then they breed the deformed fish to encourage the deformity, which is how we end up with these weirdly shaped fish.

I'm really torn about this whole Glo-Betta thing. Honestly, my mind is all over the place and I'm having trouble processing it all.
