can koi betta fish alter their colors naturally?

I got her labeled as a koi betta, but that was half a year ago. She had the colors, the whole koi vibe going on. Now, her colors are completely different - pink and blue. I'm kinda lost, 'cause she doesn't look like a koi fish anymore.

betta fish can change color as they mature, it's not uncommon for them to shift from one color pattern to another, especially when they're still growing and developing.

Kois are essentially marbles, their colors can shift. Not just as they grow, but throughout their lives - I think that's pretty cool. We'd love to see your pet, by the way!

my guess is your betta's got the marble gene too. my own blue and white marble female, she's now more of a blue and white butterfly coloration, it's pretty interesting to see how they change.
