Feeding hammer coral

I recently picked up a hammer coral and I'm having some trouble feeding it. I've been trying to place food directly on the polyps, turning the pumps off and on, but it's just not taking. The food ends up falling right off. Can someone give me some advice on how to feed it and how often I should be doing it?

I've had it for two weeks now, and I'm curious, do they grow quickly?

Same here, mine never took to direct feeding like my other corals do - Frogspawn, Torch, and Duncans all eat like champs, but my hammer just didn't seem interested, so I stopped bothering and it's doing great now.

Give it time to settle in and adjust to your system. Two weeks isn't a lot of time for noticeable growth.

Thanks for the advice, I'll stop worrying about feeding it for now. I was thinking maybe it needed food because the polyps deflated for a bit today, but I guess that's normal? Do hammer corals usually go through periods like that?

The lights were still on, and it deflated for a bit, but then it re-inflated after about an hour or so.

I don't bother feeding mine. It's done just fine without it, and I see no reason to start now.

I'm probably the odd one out here, but I do feed my hammer coral mysis whenever I'm feeding the rest of my corals - it seems to really enjoy it.

Those look amazing, how long have you had them?

I've had trouble feeding mine too, the food just doesn't seem to stick.
