Who Gives A Fish Forums

I caught a glimpse of my tank before bed and I'm still trying to wrap my head around what I saw. My tracky had these two thin filaments coming out of it - they were just floating there in the flow, then it'd quickly reel one back in, only to let them float out again. These things were pretty long, about 6" or so, and on top of the two main threads, there was a row of smaller ones running along their entire length. I've got an Acan downstream, but it seemed fine, so I don't think the tracky was stinging it. I'm genuinely confused and amazed by this. Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Here's a pic of where the threads were coming from - check the whitish line in the middle of the pic. You can just make out the two threads.

So, what's everyone's take on this?

Ctenophora - comb jelly, a pretty little fellow. Watch 'em, they're quite the sight. No worries here, nothing to do with your coral.

Just had a similar experience with my Weslo. Thought it had sweepers at first, but now I'm guessing it's one of those Comb Jellies.

I thought initially it might've had sweepers too.

A few days ago I putty sealed the area where the Comb Jelly was and I haven't seen it since.

I put putty on the bottom, but it didn't work out. I was pretty careful with the application, but about two weeks later, I saw the Comb Jelly strands coming out of the middle - not the side, like I was expecting. It's not causing any harm, but I'm still not thrilled about having it in my tank.
