Tiger barbs

I recently came across some really vibrant tiger barbs at a pet store nearby. They caught my eye, and I started thinking about adding a few to my tank with my discus fish. Would that be a good idea, or are there any potential issues I should be aware of?

They're pretty notorious for fin nipping, to be honest.

Re: Tiger barbs
I've got 6 tiger barbs in my ram tank and they're super active. They might stress out the discus, but my rams seem to keep them under control.

Re: Tiger barbs
Agreed, fin nippers are the worst. Don't even get me started on barbs in general. Just avoid 'em altogether.

Re: Tiger barbs
Actually, I think there's one exception - Rosey Barbs. They seem pretty laid-back.

I'm with FishNe on this, Rosey barbs are a great choice. They're peaceful, which is perfect for a community tank, and they're prolific breeders - I've had them spawn in my planted tank with minimal effort. Plus, they're great for algae control, they love munching on hair algae and keep my tank looking tidy.

Re: Tiger barbs
I had a great experience with long finned Rosey Barbs in my breeding group. They were one of the few long finned fish I really enjoyed keeping. I regret not continuing the line, especially since I've learned how rare they are. It's surprising I never see them advertised on Aquabid.

You can find long finned Rosey Barbs on eBay, they're for sale there.
