hey, doing hypo in my dt tank with live rock and sand, got a coflake beauty and singapore angel in there, salinity's at 1.015 atm. trying to figure out what to lower it to, was thinking 1.009? doing freshwater dips for them since they've got marine ich. btw, been using baking soda to raise ph in the dips.

"dont do freshwater dip for white spot, its not effective on the parasite, it actually makes it worse, get a separate tank, set it up as qt, and remember, ich is technically a freshwater disease, were just dealing with the marine version, its basically marine white spot"

are you sure freshwater dipping doesn't work? I'm not convinced. anybody else have thoughts on this? if dipping's not effective, then hyposalinity's probably not gonna cut it either.

Freshwater dipping has its pros and cons. You can't rely on it as a standalone cure for your fish. Marine Ich isn't just a surface issue - the younger stages are embedded deeper in the fish's skin. A dip may take care of the ones on the surface, but it won't touch the ones deeper down. If QT and copper aren't an option, I'd stick with the hypo treatment.
