Just got my hands on a dozen peacocks and a couple of haps, all around 3.5 inches. They're looking pretty vibrant, but I'm starting to suspect they might be enhanced. The seller's pushing his "Special food" and I'm fairly certain they've been getting a boost from white crane or liquid hormones.

I've been diving into the malawi scene and doing my research. Not sure where this private seller sources his stock, but he seems to sell out fast. A mate's got about 15 from him, mixed with his larger cichlids, and they've all lost their colour - maybe it's just the dominant strain taking over.

Gonna be a bit gutted if Mike starts losing his colour, which I'm guessing will probably happen. Any thoughts on this?

Those peacocks you've got are stunning - I can see why you'd think they're juiced, the colors are so vibrant. I'd definitely consider reaching out to the seller for more info on that "Special food" he's peddling. Ask him to share a breakdown of the ingredients, see if there's anything suspicious in there. Might give you a better idea of what's going on with your fish.
