Hey, I'm really worried about my new Betta Fish, Frank. I got him yesterday and he's been acting weird ever since. I set up my 9 litre tank 5 days before bringing him home - it's got a heater and filter, just like the instructions said. But now Frank just sits between the glass and the heater, not moving. I tried feeding him today but he wasn't interested. I think he's super stressed. Has anyone else had this problem? I've been saving up for ages to get him and I really can't afford another one if he dies. Please help me out.

I'd say change the water and do some research on the nitrogen cycle, it might help Frank feel more comfortable in his new home.

I'd recommend checking out the nitrogen cycle, it's super important for a fish's health. Changing a good chunk of the water, around 75%, might be a good idea right now.

Also, have you noticed if Frank's having trouble swimming against the filter's current? Bettas aren't huge fans of strong flow in their tanks. If the flow's pushing him around, you might need to look into adjusting it.

Thanks for the advice. I did see Frank swim once and he seemed fine, but I've already turned the flow right down just to be on the safe side.

Honestly, 9 litres is tiny. I'd seriously consider upgrading to at least a 5-gallon tank, but 10 gallons would be ideal for a Betta.
