Thanks so much for sharing the test results with me, I really appreciate it. Those tests were for water parameters like pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels, but they wouldn't show us if there's a bacterial infection going on. To figure that out, we'd need a vet to run some tests, and that can get pretty pricey.
I think it's a great idea to just show the pet store staff the photos of your fish, rather than bringing him in and stressing him out even more.
Unfortunately, without some kind of treatment, it's unlikely your fish will make it. Even with treatment, the outcome is uncertain - it really depends on how far along the infection is.
It's fantastic that you have your sister and her husband to turn to for advice - they've got experience with seveflake fish, and they can see your tank and fish in person, which is really helpful.
