I just scrub the glass weekly and keep up with water changes. Not the most high-tech solution, but it works for my 40-gallon. My Discus don't seem to mind, and the algae stays manageable.

Algae's just part of the hobby sometimes. I've learned to live with a bit of it. As long as the fish are healthy and the water's good, a little green isn't the end of the world.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone! I'll try cutting the light to 6 hours and adding some floating plants first. My filter's a Fluval 407, and I clean it monthly. Substrate is sand with root tabs. I'll test phosphates too. Appreciate the help!
