I've had great results with a combination of a gravel vacuum and a algae scraper. My discus are in a 100 gallon with CO2 injection, so algae is a constant battle. The key is consistency and not letting it build up too much.

For sand substrate, I'd recommend the Python Pro-Clean. It's gentle and doesn't suck up the sand like some other vacuums. Also, my discus seem less stressed when I clean in smaller sections rather than the whole tank at once.

If you're dealing with stubborn algae, a stainless steel scraper is the way to go. Just be careful not to scratch the glass. Also, consider adding more fast-growing plants to outcompete the algae. My discus tank has Amazon swords and Java fern, and they help a ton.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll definitely try the Flipper cleaner and the turkey baster. Appreciate the help, everyone.
