Thanks for the input, folks. Gonna try a trio of Sterbai and keep an eye on the dynamics. Got a backup tank ready just in case.

Smart move starting small. Post updates—curious how your Discus react. Mine took two weeks to stop side-eyeing the Corys.

Pfft, debris means your filter needs upgrading, honey. My FX6 handles it fine. Also, Corys are basically living vacuum cleaners. Win-win.
