This. So many people sleep on magnesium, but it's the backbone of your water chemistry. Get that dialed, and the rest falls into place.

If you do go the reactor route later, start with a small media like CaribSea ARM. It dissolves easier than the coarse stuff, so you won't need as much CO2 to get the pH down. Just something to keep in mind for the future.

Also, keep an eye on your pH if you start dosing heavily. Some two-part solutions can drive it up, especially if your tank's already running high. A refugium or CO2 scrubber can help balance things out if needed.
