Growing aquarium plants in outdoor environments

That greenhouse setup won't provide much insulation for the plants, and installing a heater would be impractical. With the current cold north east winds and snow, the plants will likely experience significant temperature drops, especially at night, which isn't ideal for tropical plants. I'm assuming Bristol's weather isn't much different from ours in the north east.

However, during the summer months, they should fare better.

I'm struggling to keep my duckweed going, really don't want to lose any of it.

Plants are still alive but not exactly thriving. Roots keep falling off then growing back. Did some research, seems like adding an air pump could do the trick. I'm half-tempted to throw a sponge filter in there and cycle it like one of my aquariums - that's basically all I'm missing, air. My plants grow like crazy in my tank so fingers crossed this'll do the trick.
