The more I read through this, the more I'm inclined to think that the OP knew exactly what they were getting themselves into. I mean, the initial responses were pretty clear-cut, and yet they chose to ignore the warnings.

I've heard it from everyone I've spoken to - males just can't be kept together. It's probably from experience, but to me, it's like waiting for a disaster to happen when you put them in the same tank. I wouldn't risk it myself...
