You can't compare what people are willing to pay for private party sales to LFS prices, it's not the same. LFS has to make a profit, so they inflate the price. Same thing when you trade in your coral, you're not gonna get near the retail price. Online prices are a bit more reasonable, but still higher than what you'd pay from a private seller.

I've seen my LFS charge around $20 per head for Duncans, and up to $25 if it's a rare color. But if I were buying from a private party, I'd expect to pay more like $10-15.

I'll just post some pics and give a quick rundown of what I've got.

My Duncan has 8 decent-sized heads - 2-3 inches each - and then it's got a smaller one that's about an inch, plus two tiny ones that are only a quarter inch. What do you think it's worth?

My frog spawn just split from one 6-inch head into two 3-inch heads, and it's got 7 new babies growing from its skirt. How much would you pay for the whole thing?
I've always found it interesting how online stores manage to sell corals at the prices they list. I get it, if it's a rare piece, people are willing to pay top dollar. But for the more common stuff like hammers, frogspawn, and torches, it's a different story. I used to give away heads for free, no joke.
