Love the color boost from that reefbrite XHO. Wish I could get similar vibrancy on mine.

Aurum wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 3:12 am Just wondering, how's everyone's acan growth rate? Mine seem okay, but I'm not sure if they're normal or on the slower side.
Here are some pics for comparison - this one's from when I first got it on 7/19/2014, and this one's from today, 12/31/2014.
Yes new polyps tend to spread outward on rocky substrate, which is where you'd typically find them in the wild.

I've yet to see them spread on the sand bed in an aquarium setting, and I think that's because they just don't thrive in that environment. If a frag is doing well on the sand bed due to the right light and flow, I'd recommend gluing it onto a flat piece of rock to give it room to expand. Direct sand-tissue contact can be irritating to them, and in some tanks, it could even be a disease vector.

I've had my acan frag for roughly 3 months now and it's started 8 new heads, with only 3 original ones.

I'm curious about everyone's feeding methods - are you guys using Fauna or something else?
