Here's my betta's fin pic (attached) and I've also noticed he's been nipping at his tail... Just got the aquarium salt, hoping it helps.

It's possible he's got a bit of fin rot going on. To clear it up, I'd recommend daily water changes and adding a tablespoon of aquarium salt for every 5 gallons of water. Just make sure to dissolve the salt in a little tank water first, so it doesn't burn him. After the first day, you can reduce the salt to 3/4 tablespoon with each 75% water change. If you don't see any improvement or if he gets worse within a week, you might need to treat a bacterial infection, but I wouldn't worry about that just yet.

I think there's a hole on his tail too, try doing daily water changes and add some salt.

If he's biting his tail, it's probably boredom or his tail's just too heavy. Give him some tall plants to chill on, see if that helps. Maybe try a ping pong ball, some bettas love 'em, some don't.
