Hi all, I'm new here and just wanted to share my experience. I've been in the hobby for 40 years, had all types of fish, including salt. Recently converted my community tank to discus only - couldn't be happier. My tank's a 150 gallon Xtra high, 48"x24"x31", with a 40 gallon breeder as a sump. Took it apart, rebuilt it inside the cabinet stand - wasn't easy, but worth it. Maintaining this tank and sump is a breeze for me. My discus, no aggressive behavior, just the initial pecking order. I was limited by space too, but made it work. My advice, go for a tall tank, make it work for your space - that's just my opinion. Good luck, hope this helps.

I've got a game-changer for tall tanks - PytLion's 30" sipLion. It makes maintenance in my 31" tall aquarium a breeze. Honestly, it's the best thing I've found for tall tanks.
