Re: new ideas for the addition

I went for it and grabbed a fireball pygmy, C. acanthops - lovely little fella. Within half an hour, he was munching on the algae down the back of the tank, plenty to keep him busy back there.

Re: new ideas for the addition

Continuous feeding seems to be the key to preventing coflake nipping in dwarf angels. As I recall, Centropyge are naturally herbivorous, but if they develop a taste for coflakes in captivity, it's often difficult to reverse. Using a slow dripper or nori sheets to provide a constant food supply ...

Re: new ideas for the addition

I've been searching for some smaller wrasses, but they're hard to come by around here. There are some beautiful ones out there, though. I've also been thinking it'd be great to get something that'll take care of the flatworms I've been dealing with - it'd be satisfying to see them get eaten. The LFS ...

new ideas for the addition

I'm looking to add another fish to my 180l tank but I'm stuck on what to get. I've got a pair of perc clowns, firtideflow, banggai cardinals, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, red leg hermits, and the usual turbo snails, plus various soft and LPS corals.

One of my banggais (Mrs) is a real ...

Re: Fungi plate coral issues

Update: it's taken a turn for the worse - over 75% of the skeleton is exposed now. I've relocated it to a slightly shaded area, giving nature its chance to take its course. Hopefully, I'll be rewarded with some offspring in a few months, similar to what flavormix experienced with their green fungia.

Re: Fungi plate coral issues

Here's a photo of the opening in the center of my plate coral, I managed to snap a pic.

Re: Fungi plate coral issues

Are you supplementing its diet with regular feedings, and is the opening you're referring to near the center, possibly the mouth of the coral itself?

I haven't started target feeding it yet. The opening is in the center, but I'm surprised it's wide enough to see the skeleton - I didn't think ...

Fungi plate coral issues

I've got a bit of a situation with my two-week-old plate coral - it's split right down the middle, exposing the skeleton. The gap's about the size of a dime, so it's pretty noticeable. Can these corals recover from this kind of damage, or is it a lost cause? I'd love to hear from anyone who's ...
